Holding "Training Workshop for Journalists Working in the Area of ICH" by the Tehran ICH Centre of UNESCO in collaboration with Mana Naqsh
The "Training Workshop for Journalists Working in the Area of ICH" was held on 5 and 7 March 2024 at Laleh International Hotel, Tehran by the Tehran ICH Centre of UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Mana Naqsh Institute, attended by prominent journalists and media activists in the field of cultural heritage.

The "Training Workshop for Journalists Working in the Area of ICH" was held on 5 and 7 March 2024 at Laleh International Hotel, Tehran by the Tehran ICH Centre of UNESCO (Regional Research Centre for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in West and Central Asia) in collaboration with the Deputy of Cultural Heritage and the Public Relations and Information General Office of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, as well as Mana Naqsh Art & Culture Institute.
This workshop was aimed at training and awareness-raising among journalists about the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and strengthening their activities in the area of intangible cultural heritage.
On the first day of the workshop, in the beginning, Dr Mohammadreza Majidi, the former representative of Iran at UNESCO, presented the topic of "cultural diplomacy and international cooperation in the context of safeguarding measures and joint world inscription of intangible cultural heritage". Then, Dr Atousa Momeni, Director-General of the Tehran ICH Centre, taught "introduction, analysis and review of the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage". Afterwards, Dr Shahab Nikman, the managing director of Mana Naqsh Institute (accredited NGO to act in an advisory capacity to the UNESCO Intergovernmental committee), presented the topics "Review of the process of national inscription of intangible cultural heritage and statistical analysis of Iran's elements inscribed on National ICH Inventory" and "Review of the process of World inscription of intangible cultural heritage and the assessment of Iran's elements inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage". Ultimately, Dr Shahram Gilabadi, lecturer and expert on media and culture, taught "the mission of news agencies and media in public awareness-raising and safeguarding intangible cultural heritage".
On the second day of the workshop, journalists exchanged views and experiences on the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) with Iranian and foreign instructors, including Dr Atousa Momeni, Director-General of the Tehran ICH Centre, Dr Rustam Muzafarov, expert member of the Governing Council of the Tehran ICH Centre from Kazakhstan, Dr Naira Kilichyan, the representative of Armenia on the Governing Council of the Tehran ICH Centre, Dr Ali Hajilari, expert member of the Governing Council of the Tehran ICH Centre, Professor Sajida Haider Vandal, expert member of the Governing Council of the Tehran ICH Centre from Pakistan, and Dr Shahab Nikman, the managing director of Mana Naqsh.
